Iowa has the
pleasure of hosting the 2008 Central Region meeting on
October 26, 27 and 28th at the Marriott Hotel in Cedar
Rapids. Our goal is to welcome these six neighboring
states with a fun, educational and entertaining event.
Be sure to mark your calendars now and make plans to
attend.
We are especially excited that Tony Todesco accepted
Iowa’s invitation to share his design talents and
expertise during a program following the Monday night
banquet.
Tony Todesco of One Main Street Studio, of Stow,
Massachusetts has designed and commented for trade shows
and has appeared on television promoting the use and
enjoyment of flowers.
Tony is a regular guest designer, lecturer and
instructor for Civic groups, Design groups as Garden
Clubs on state and national levels. He has judged many
flower shows including New York, Philadelphia and
Boston.
Among his many accomplishments are set design and
staging for many flower shows, including the
Massachusetts Horticultural Societies Annual New England
Spring Flower Show. He is proud to be a National Garden
Club Master Flower Show Judge and has presented programs
to Flower Show judges nationwide. He is an active
member and serves on the National Garden Clubs Flower
Show Committee, as New Design Development Chairman.
Tony’s programs have also been presented to numerous
museums, including Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts and the
Minneapolis Institute of Art. His large scale designs
have been regular exhibits for over 30 years at the
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
In addition to over 35 years of experience in management
and ownership of prestigious design studios in the
Boston area, Tony’s colorful style and expertise make
him a sought after designer, commentator and lecturer.
Because of his creative use of plant material, in his
designs, and extensive technical knowledge, he not only
interprets current design trends, but helps create them.
Following Tony’s design program Monday night, he will
also hold a design workshop. Sunday evening, 28 lucky
members will have their designs critiqued by the master
himself. Each state will be invited to select four
members to attend this workshop at a cost of $35.00
each. The designer will provide their own containers
and plant materials. If they wish, arrangements can be
made to purchase plant materials for them and the cost
will be passed on to that designer.
Let’s give Tony Todesco a warm Midwest welcome!!
The registration form and complete meeting schedule
will be published in the Summer NEWS and be available on
the website.
