To All Garden Club Members, June, 2007
Central Region is celebrating its 75 years as a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc. We will take this opportunity to promote not only Central Region, but all Seven States that comprise it.
We are again putting all the Awards information in the “Centerfold” for your easy use and removal. Keep it with your other Awards Information as some projects may qualify for more than one award.
We know you do many wonderful things as members of National Garden Clubs, Inc. Assist us in honoring those who give their time and talent to help those in need, or to beautify our environment, or those who help by educating and promoting our theme, “Propagating Beauty Through Gardening.” This will be done, hopefully, by promoting the use of native plants of your state.
Award applications are to be sent to: Fran Stueck, 5589 22nd Avenue Trail, Vinton, Iowa 52349. The latest National Award Information will be found in the September/October, 2007 issue of The National Gardener. If you have any questions pertaining to these awards, please contact Fran at the address listed above, by phone at (319) 472-3032, or by email at franstueck@yahoo.com.
We recognize that each of the CR States has their own awards but the application requirements are simple. Unless otherwise noted, applications for Central Region Awards may be in the form of a brief. A “brief” being a short summary of the activity along with supporting photographs, letters, financial information, or publicity - whatever helps document your work – then place in a folder of your choice. This is not a formal Book of Evidence, (Except for the States Garden Club’s CR # Unified Project and Historic Preservation Award #13). Just be sure to keep it simple and make it fun. Please do not send scrapbooks or loose items.
Special attention should be given to the time period and deadlines for each set of awards. An award on Calendar Sales will be given at the CR Meeting this Fall in Minnesota, some at the 2008 NGC Convention in Tennessee, some at the CR Meeting Iowa, and some at the CR Meeting in Texas, 2009. Read Carefully. Do not miss deadlines! Remember everyone can be a winner. Start now.
