CENTRAL REGION SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Suggestions for increasing funds

Set up the Central Region Scholarship Fund with two accounts: One for Permanent Funds and another for Annual Donations.

All donors will be recognized at the Central Region Meeting in the year the donation is made with the exception of those wishing anonymity.

Each issue of the Central Region Newsletter will feature a contribution form. The contributor may indicate into which fund the money should be deposited. State presidents would be encouraged to reproduce this form for their members. The form will have a space to indicate the donor’s name, the reason for the donation, the honoree and the name and address of the Central Region Treasurer.

Permanent Funds are not to be touched. Their purpose is to provide ongoing interest. The interest from the Permanent Fund will be combined with monies from the Annual Donations account to determine the scholarship awards for that year.

Ways to Increase the Permanent Fund

Life Memberships will continue to be encouraged with a $50 donation and will be deposited in the Permanent Fund. For those already enrolled as Life Members, a new Gold Star Membership will be established. With an additional donation of $25 a gold star (tie tack pin) will be awarded. Any number of these gold stars can be purchased.

A Honor/Memorial Book would be displayed at the annual Central Region meeting. For a donation of $10, the name of an outstanding member will be recorded. Persons so honored, would be sent a card telling them who made the donation and why.

Ideas for Annual Donations

Club Donations, Memorials, Scholarship Donations, Honorariums and Tributes.

Monies received for the following would be added to the interest from the Permanent Fund and would be awarded in that year.

Cash Donations to the scholarship fund. If a club, state or individual donates a total of $500.00 in one year, the scholarship may be named for the donor.

Memorial funds consist of donations in memory of friends or family members.

Tributes to garden club members may be awarded for outstanding contributions to their clubs or communities. Anniversary, birthday remembrances and other special occasions would also be acknowledged.

Honorarium contributions will be acknowledged with a certificate sent to the recipient. Clubs could give an honorarium to speakers, workshop presenters or outgoing officers.
